How to Use Cast Iron Cookware
Almost everyone who was born before 1980 can remember their mother having at least one piece of cast iron cookware that was handed down to her from her mother. Some only need to see that piece of cast iron cookware being brought out and placed on the stove to know that a certain dish will be prepared.
It is well known that the more cast iron cookware is used, the better it becomes. This is because heat causes a reaction known as "seasoning" to occur. Cast iron cookware must be coated with oil, shortening, or lard and exposed to high heat before its first use for this "seasoning" process to take place. It may also require another "seasoning" session a few years down the road, but the benefits are worth it. Some people swear that certain foods just aren't as good if they are not cooked in cast iron cookware.
Using cast iron skillets and pots actually increases the nutritional value of some foods. Small amounts of the iron that was originally used in making the cookware do get into the food during the cooking process, and when stirring food. This iron is absorbed into the body and actually increases a person's iron content, thus helping reduce or eliminate problems caused by iron deficiency.

While there are usually not as many pipes in the kitchen as there might be in the bathroom, kitchens do still have their share of items that are considered part of a home's plumbing, and therefore will need the kitchen plumbing supply tools and equipment at one time or another.
Sinks or garbage disposals all have drains which can become clogged; faucets on sinks can break or begin leaking. When this happens, the proper kitchen plumbing supply can mean the difference between a few dollars or an outrageous plumbing bill.
Kitchen faucets like bathroom faucets, have washers that wear out or become damaged. Changing washers in kitchen faucets is relatively simple; the process is much the same as that used for bathroom faucets. The water supply is cut off, the faucet is removed, the washer replaced, the faucet put back on, water turned back on, and problem solved.
Kitchen drains become clogged, although the culprit in a kitchen drain is usually grease or food particles rather than the hair which is ordinarily found in bathroom drains. However, the old reliable plumber's helper (or plunger, if one prefers) is the one kitchen plumbing supply that almost always solves the problem.
A kitchen plumbing supply may differ a little bit in size or other characteristics than one meant for a bathroom; however, it can be easily found in most hardware or home improvement stores.
What Is Range Ventilation?
Range ventilation is usually accomplished by the installation of a fan, ventilation units, and vent covers into a stove hood, which is then situated over the stove itself. Ultimately, all of these items can be found at a local hardware store. Sometimes, range ventilation equipment is also found behind and slightly above the stove, on the wall.
Range ventilation keeps a kitchen from becoming too steamy or too smoky while food is being cooked. Therefore, it is important that all parts of the range ventilation system be in good working order. The fan blades must be able to move smoothly in order to draw out the excess heat, smoke, and steam from the kitchen. Ordinary cooking causes grease and film buildup from smoke and steam to coat the fan, thus making its operation sluggish and not as effective.
This can be remedied by removing any covers that may be over the fan and cleaning the blades. If the fan itself can be easily removed from its housing, then it will be easier to clean the fan blades. If not, then care should be taken to remove as much foreign matter as possible from the fan blades.
Vent covers can also become clogged with the same particles as fan blades, thus blocking air from being pulled through the vents. Vent covers, however, are usually quite simple to remove, clean, and replace. While the covers are being cleaned, the vent units themselves can be wiped down.
